Tech Biz Replay: Samsung Won’t RIVAL iOS & Android, Apple’s Smartphone ADVANTAGES

Both of Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) and Netflix, Inc.’s (NASDAQ:NFLX) unique United States PC visitors dropped by 6 percent year-over-year in August, according to comScore’s August Web traffic data. Samsung’s (SSNLF.PK) chief product officer Kevin Packingham says that his company’s Bada OS is not intended to rival iOS and Android, but will generally be utilized for low-end smartphones targeted at markets in Asia. He also insists that his company is not concerned about Google Inc.(NASDAQ:GOOG) giving a preferential treatment to Motorola Mobility. Packingham’s comments should be a pleasant surprise for Google, given Samsung’s dominant position over the high-end Android market.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has several factors going in its favor, says Stephen Baker at NPD, even as domestic growth in sales of smartphones has stalled out. The company’s iPhone customer loyalty remains number one in its industry, and although the product’s European share has fallen, the same share has been growing in the United States.
