The market action was very moderate on the second day of trading for investors, traders and shareholders on Wall Street. These companies shot up to the top of the performance pack today:
Big gainers:
Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX): Netflix Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) subscribers watched more than 2 billion hours of streaming movies and TV during the fourth quarter. The trend toward streaming video continues to evolve as hard disc lovers become a dying breed like record collectors. This is also great news for YouTube (NASDAQ:GOOG) and on-demand content providers such as Time Warner (NYSE:TWC), DirecTV (NASDAQ:DTV), Dish Network (NASDAQ:DISH), and Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA). Shares were up 11.36%.
TiVo Inc. (NASDAQ:TIVO): AT&T (NYSE:T) and TiVo (NASDAQ:TIVO) have settled their pending patent suit, agreeing upon a mutal patent licensing arrangement. AT&T will pay TiVo $51 million initially, and then quarterly payments through June 2018 totaling $164 million for a total yield of $215 million. Shares were up +10.09%.
BBVA Banco Frances S.A. (NYSE:BFR) shares were up +14.07% and Banco Macro SA (NYSE:BMA) shares were up +10.67% as Argentinian banks caught a bid on positive chatter about the country’s financial position.
Kronos Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:KRO) shares were up +10.18% with no breaking news to report.
