The DJIA, S&P 500 and Nasdaq all led the new year higher with an explosive rally. Some companies fared way better than the overall market. Here are a few of those companies which lit of up trading screens with green double digit percentages today:

Big gainers:

RPC, Inc. (NYSE:RES): RPC, Inc. opened up on the bell and continued its rise. Up +12.38%.

Fusion-IO, Inc. (NYSE:FIO): Up on the opening bell, and moving higher as Kulbinder Garcha, Credit Suisse analyst, reinstated FIO coverage at Outperform and a price target of $50.Garcha sees better revenues than current estimates for this year. He thinks the street doesn’t appreciate how FIO’s technology can help customers cut costs. Up +11.94%.

MAKO Surgical Corp. (NASDAQ:MAKO): Summer Street upgraded MAKO to Buy from Neutral and the company shares rose with heavy volume. Up +12.22%.

Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:LYV):  The Super Bowl will stream free for the first time ever and Chris Katje thinks Live Nation and Comcast will both benefit. He estimates 800,000 online Super Bowl watchers, who will get different set of commercials.  Comcast gets a new revenue stream and Live Nation gets a new artist, Madonna, who will perform at SB halftime. Under her new, Live Nation label, Madonna’s newest album is scheduled for a March 2012 release. Up +10.59%.

Gafisa SA (NYSE:GFA): Homebuilder rises on opening bell and moves high during the day. Up +10.43%.
