Yandex (NASDAQ:YNDX), a Russian Internet and search engine company, will provide mapping support to Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) new iOS platform in Russia by making available local data and enabling location searches, according to a report in the WSJ. Apple is presumably going all out to sever its mapping links with Google Maps (NASDAQ:GOOG), and has tied up with Dutch provider TomTom to arrange mapping data for iOS. A couple of months ago Apple selected a Chinese mapping partner in AutoNavi (NASDAQ:AMAP) to provide Chinese mapping data for iOS.

Provider of solid waste collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services, Waste Connections (NYSE:WCN), is to acquire R360 Environmental Solutions, a closely held player in the field of oilfield waste management, for about $1.3 billion. The deal comes in the wake of diminishing municipal waste volumes in the U.S., according to Reuters.
