Senior Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) managers will make a trip to India during the week to meet with a government-appointed panel that is investigating the company’s lobbying activities in the country. The step shows progress for the retailer in the midst of its slow bid to expand operations in the nation. According to the Indian government, 62 other retailers were cleared for single brand retail in the nation, and last December, the Indian government announced an inquiry into lobbying practices by Wal-Mart after a report that the retailer had pressed U.S. lawmakers to help gain access to foreign markets.
