Wal-Mart Stores (NYSE:WMT) has intentions to shut down three superstores in China during April, in a move that analysts have said is designed to cope with growing labor costs and high rents in China. The retailer scheduled two store closings for April 8 in Shanghai and Wuxi, which is East China’s Jiangsu Province, and there is one on April 20 in Shenzhen, which is South China’s Guangdong Province, Wal-Mart China informed the Global Times. This is a strategic adjustment of the sales network, stated Li Ling, who is senior director of corporate affairs at Walmart China. Shopping cards that are registered with the three stores will still be effective in other Walmart stores in those cities, she said, as Shanghai and Shenzhen each will still have 21 stores left while three remain in Wuxi.

These institutional firms indicated owning shares of Wal-Mart in Q4 2012. They reported owning a total of 1.049 billion shares on 12/31/2012. The shares closed at $67.79 on 12/31/2012.
