Will This Scare Away More Microsoft Customers?

Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) became the most recent victim of a high-profile hacking attempt, causing its Azure cloud software to falter for a large portion of Friday night. The attacks, reports The Verge, were similar to those documented by Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) earlier this week.

“During our investigation, we found a small number of computers, including some in our Mac business unit, that were infected by malicious software using techniques similar to those documented by other organizations,” wrote Matt Thomlinson, general manager of Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing Security unit. “We have no evidence of customer data being affected and our investigation is ongoing.”

This is just the latest in a series of hacking attacks, which started with attempts on the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times—an attempt, experts believe, constructed by the Chinese Military.
