This is the second major shutdown of products at Yahoo that has taken place under the stewardship of former Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) executive Marissa Mayer. Last month Yahoo announced it would pare its current number of 60 to 75 mobile apps down to 12 to 15.

“Ultimately, we’re making these changes in an effort to sharpen our focus. By continuing to hone in on our core products and experiences, we’ll be able to make our existing products the very best they can be,” wrote Jay Rossiter, Yahoo’s Executive Vice President of Platforms, on the company’s official blog.
