Shares of Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) soared as much as 3.4 percent higher on Tuesday, capitalizing on the thermals of general market optimism and validation that its bet on original programming is paying off.
Netflix has been pretty quiet about the viewership statistics for its original series, House of Cards. All 13 episodes of the dark political drama went live recently, and Netflix has just revealed that it is the most-watched show on the service since its release. That’s great, but will it translate into more subscribers?
The answer, according to a survey conducted by financial services firm Cowen and Company, is apparently yes. Cowen’s survey showed that not only did 80 percent of respondents think the show was “good” or “exceptional,” but that 83 percent said they would be less likely to cancel a Netflix subscription because of the show…
