Will Motorola’s New Razr Hit Europe This Month?

Motorola’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) new Razr HD will reportedly hit Europe by the end of September, according to FrAndroid, which says two of the largest mobile operators in France — Orange and SFR – will start offering the Android smartphone in the next few weeks.

No news on what its price tag will be there, but in Germany, Motorola will be asking for 549 euros (about $719). German customers will have to get their phones from O2, which scored exclusive launch rights.

One would think that the price of the new smartphone would be the same across all euro markets, but these things tend to vary from country to country, depending on local taxes, size of the market, and other variables.

However, with carrier subsidies based on pricey contracts, the device itself should go for next to nothing, especially if Motorola is hoping for it to compete with Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) brand new iPhone 5, which will be released on Friday in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and the U.K.
