Simplicity, ease of use, and a conservative aesthetic are all apart of Jony Ive’s contributions to Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) as the company’s chief of hardware design. His work has made the iMac and Macbook Pro into icons of the tech industry, and the envy of other hardware manufacturers.
Following CEO Tim Cook’s shakeup of the company that saw Scott Forstall pushed out (Forstall was the director of the iOS program), it seems Ive will be bringing his trademark design talents to the software side of the development process.
Although the changes to iOS 7 are not expected to be anything dramatic, the Los Angeles Times notes that with Ive’s input, the interface could have a more conservative appearance. The Times, which obtained the information from the Wall Street Journal, said the new update would be ”starker and simpler.” The Journal cites unnamed third-party developers, who say they have spoken to Apple employees.
