Will Investors Like These New iRobot Catalysts?

iRobot Corporation (NASDAQ:IRBT) has been developing innovative ways to help consumers clean their homes since 1990, and the trend continued today with the unveiling of two new, updated versions of familiar iRobot home maintenance machines.

The company released the Looj 330 – an improved edition of the original gutter-cleaning Looj – and the auto-vacuuming Roomba 600 today, sending the message to investors and consumers that it remains determined to improve its products, simplify household cleaning, and provide a few entertaining thrills for the sci-fi fan with a long list of chores.

With the new versions, though, the company also proved that it does value feedback and is willing to acknowledge and correct its past flaws.  Notable advancements include a slimmer design and interchangeable flaps on the Looj 330 – allowing it access to smaller, tighter gutters that gave the original Looj problems – and a revamped airflow system and smarter brush designs on the Roomba 600.  And the news only gets better for loyal iRobot customers: the company has also released an array of accessories to compliment the new products, including belt clips, additional attachments, and an easy-to-store toolbox for reducing garage clutter.

Time will tell whether iRobot can now set it’s sights on getting the stock price back to 52-week highs. But launching a new catalysts is one of the most critical ingredients to success.
