There are many different ways to look at the Ford story. For instance, you can point out that Ford expects global sales to increase by 50 percent within three years, which is mostly due to strong demand in Asia. On the other hand, overall vehicle sales in China in 2012 weren’t as strong as anticipated. The reason for this subpar performance included a weakened economy and increased fuel costs.
China is important because Asia as a whole is expected to be responsible for 40 percent of the industry’s growth over the next five to seven years. One potential risk down the road is China’s move toward stricter fuel standards in 2017…
