Will Barnes & Noble’s Extension to CEO Please These Top Institutional Shareholders?

Barnes & Noble (NYSE:BKS) chief executive William Lynch received a two-year extension to head the company, specifically the Nook Media business if the unit is separated from the retail trade stores, stated B&N in a Friday filing with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission. By agreeing to the extension, Lynch will obtian the same base salary, but he did not receive a $1.8 million bonus for his role in the completion of investments from Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Pearson (NYSE:PSO) that assisted in forming Nook Media. If Lynch becomes the new CEO of Nook Media, he will have to possibility of receive a $1.5 million bonus. Additionally, the B&N board has begun to consider an offer from chairman Len Riggio for the purchase of the retail trade stores.
