Will Amazon’s Spurned Request Bother These Top Institutional Shareholders?

Two publishing industry groups, the Authors Guild and the Association of American Publishers, have taken an opposition against Amazon.com’s (NASDAQ:AMZN) request to own new domain names, according to The Wall Street Journal. According to the organization’s claim that allowing Amazon to these types of domain addresses that end in suffixes like “.book,” “.author,” and “.read” would threaten competition, reported the paper, Barnes & Noble (NYSE:BKS) also opposed Amazon’s request. Last year, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers started a process letting organizations register for new Web address suffixes, besides “.com” and “.edu.”

These institutional firms indicated owning shares of Amazon.com in Q4 2012. They reported owning a total of 320.139 million shares on 12/31/2012. The shares closed at $250.87 on 12/31/2012.
