Why Did Apple Fail to Produce These Documents?

Attorney Ashlie Beringer admitted during a hearing on Wednesday that Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) failure to produce emails and documents regarding a GPS-related lawsuit was a “mistake,” Bloomberg reported. Beringer’s firm represents Apple in the case.

The lawsuit in question alleges that the company collected data on the geographical locations of customers through apps on mobile devices including iPhones and iPads, even after the customers said they didn’t want to share the information.

Beringer said she and her team of lawyers reviewed more than 8,000 emails over the weekend, and determined that it should turn over messages involving Apple’s late co-founder Jobs, marketing chief Phil Schiller, and former mobile software head Scott Forstall, among other executives…
