Verizon MAKES DEAL with T-Mobile and 2 More Telecom Titans Attracting Interest

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) (NASDAQ:VOD) and T-Mobile USA (DTEGY.PK) have reached a spectrum-exchange deal pertaining to AWS band assets. This deal includes a net spectrum gain for T-Mobile, a cash payment to Verizon, and spectrum Verizon is purchasing from LEAP and cable providers. Verizon hopes the deal convinces the FCC to sign on its spectrum purchases, which have faced opposition from both Congress and the industry and are currently being reviewed.

Level 3 Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:LVLT) has announced the expansion of its resources, infrastructure, and service portfolio for French enterprise customers. The company will provide comprehensive solutions to enterprises to assist in growing their business, becoming more efficient, and addressing important security requirements. The shares traded down $0.46 (2.16%) recently at $20.83.

Alcatel-Lucent, S.A. (NYSE:ALU): Nokia (NYSE:NOK) and Alcatel-Lucent are off sharply, as investors fret Europe’s debt crisis will prevent the money-losing companies from raising fresh capital. Nokia is now at levels last seen in 1996, and speculation is growing newly-minted tablet seller Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) will consider buying its Windows Phone partner. Nonetheless, a Microsoft exec asserts his company has no interest in making its own phones, shooting down prior speculation.
