Verizon ADDED 120K in Q2 and 4 Telecom Titans Attracting Interest as the Dow Rises

AT&T, Inc. (NYSE:T):  According to BGR, it has been confirmed that Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 5 will feature nano-SIMs. Their carrier partners, including AT&T (NYSE:T), are already testing how the new devices work. Their shares traded down $0.71 (1.96%), they closed at $35.48.

Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S): U.S. wireless carrier Sprint said that it will move into the hot market for tracking technology, this lets auto insurers monitor how, where and when their customers drive. Sprint said that its new Integrated Insurance Solutions unit, will allow companies to offer, what is known as, “a usage-based insurance” program. Their shares traded up $0.05 (1.37%), they closed at $3.71.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ):   In the second quarter, Verizon Communications Inc., added 120,000 new FiOS Video connections. Their shares traded down $1.35 (2.94%), they closed at $44.54.

Vodafone Group plc (NASDAQ:VOD): Vodafone,  Australia’s Nexus S customers, were set to be the first to get upgraded to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean today, until Telco realized that the software did not meet Australian regulatory standards. The error, first picked up by Ausdroid, means that Vodafone will immediately put a halt to the roll-out of Jelly Bean. Their shares traded down $0.20 (0.67%), they closed at $28.84.

Alcatel-Lucent, S.A. (NYSE:ALU): The technology sector has been in a slump recently, since numerous companies lowered their outlooks due to macroeconomic uncertainties. After telecom equipment maker, Alcatel-Lucent, reported it would miss its profit target for the year, shares of communications equipment companies declined.  However, shares of Alcatel-Lucent traded up $0.08 (7.34%), they closed at $1.17.
