United Airlines (NYSE:UAL) will be the first U.S. carrier to fly the new, wide-bodied Boeing 787s and plans to add new international routes to Africa, Japan and China after taking delivery of the planes.

Investment company Prospect Capital (NASDAQ:PSEC) reports net investment income of $0.51 a share for its FQ4, up 66 percent on a y-on-y basis. Announces a $0.30 distribution and a NAV of $10.83 which is higher by 4.5 percent y-on-y and 0.09 percent sequentially. New investments in FQ4 are $573 million and the aggregate portfolio is $2.1 billion with an annualized yield of 13.6 percent.
According to SunTrust (NYSE:STI) the Fed did not object to its revised capital plan which was submitted in June as a part of the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR). Its earlier plan in March was rejected after stress test reviews.
H1 profit at PetroChina (NYSE:PTR) slipped due to higher operating expenses with the company predicting that “The macroeconomic environment will remain complicated and severe in the second half of 2012.” Net profit for H1 was 68.8 billion yuan ($10.8 billion) on revenues of 952.2 billion yuan ($149.8 billion). Oil and gas output was up 3.8 percent to 667.9 million boe.
Chevron’s (NYSE:CVX) Australia chief executive, Roy Krzywosinski warns that cost increases and worsening labor productivity could jeopardize the future of the country’s liquefied natural gas industry. Referring to labor costs and taxes, he says that if reforms aren’t implemented, some LNG projects may start “falling off, and investment will dry up”.
