Ford’s High Hybrid Hopes and 4 Auto Stocks Driving Markets

Ford Motor Co.’s (NYSE:F) first entry into the hybrid segment is ready to make a large impact. In regards to fuel efficiency, the C-MAX Hybrid claims a 47mpg fuel efficiency rating, which beats Toyota’s Prius V by 3 mpg. With a 500 mile driving range which utilized both the electric motor and gasoline engine, the model intends to address one of the main concerns regarding electric vehicles. Ford hopes to launch itself into the EV market in the fall as well as triple production capacity by next year. The shares closed down $0.08 (0.84%) recently at $9.49.

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) South Korean workers plan a partial strike for three days next week while annual wage talks pause, according to Reuters. The most contentious issue is the demand that the company stop overnight work. The shares closed down $0.23 (1.12%) recently at $20.31.

Toyota Motor Corporation (NYSE:TM): The Detroit News reports that Ford  (NYSE:F) intends to use its new C-MAX Hybrid to compete with Toyota’s Prius. Ford’s hybrid may reach a fuel-efficiency of 47 mpg, three mpg more than the Prius v. The shares closed down $0.41 (0.51%) recently at $80.21.

Tesla Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA): According to the New York Times, Chinese car exports surge. Tesla (TSLA +0.1%) continues to collects rave reviews concerning its 2012 Model S cars, and expects to do the same next year with 20K vehicles in the price range of  $57,400-$107,400. The shares closed down $0.24 (0.77%) recently at $30.99.

A123 Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:AONE) has announced its notification to holders of its 6.00% senior convertible notes regarding the satisfactions of the conditions concerning the $30M release of restricted cash related to notes that are subject to an account control agreement. The company predicts that the $30M will become unrestricted and available for normal corporate needs subject to the delivery of administrative release documentations from note holders near July 6. The shares closed down $0.14 (10.77%) recently at $1.16.
