These Stocks are Blazing to the Top of the S&P 500 Winner’s List

Rowan Companies Inc. (NYSE:RDC) loves the other side of the Pond: RDC’s board approved a proposition to move the corporate headquarters to the U.K. Shareholders will vote April 16.

RDC shares recently traded at $33.62, up $2.62, or 8.45%.

Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE:FCX) and Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE:ANR): Nickel prices are on the radar as Indonesia deals with their tsunami. Indonesia announced a ban on exports of raw materials produced by small miners beginning May 6. The government also proposed a 25% tax on the export of unprocessed mineral ores in 2012.

FCX shares recently traded at $37.55, up $1.77, or 4.95%.

Oppenheimer opines on Micron Technology’s (NASDAQ:MU) convertible note offering: “If the $870M offering represents all that Micron has to fork over and respective governments retire Elpida and Rexchip debts or Micron puts in a bid together with other cash sources, we could warm up to it. Otherwise, it is more money into the DRAM drain.”

MU shares recently traded at $7.49, up $0.32, or 4.46%.

Tenet Healthcare Corp. (NYSE:THC) gets in on an industry-wide settlement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Secretary of HHS, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Tenet is expected to get $84 million around June 30.

THC shares recently traded at $5.35, up $0.27, or 5.31%.
