After a busy week of corporate earnings reports, they’ll take a backseat this week to jobs numbers and consumer data. This will give market watchers a clearer picture of the current economy.
Over in Europe, the European Central Bank’s governing council will meet on Thursday in Barcelona. After last week’s cut in Spain’s debt rating and the country’s assertion they neither need nor will seek a bailout, market watchers will keep their ears open to hear what the ECB has to say about troubled Spain.
Looking ahead, on Sunday May 6, France and Greece will hold elections.
In the Asian-Pacific region, the week will kick off with the Reserve Bank of Australia meeting and announcing monetary policy.
