The Week Ahead: D10 Conference, TiVo in Spotlight, The Jobs Picture

In the short work week, market watchers will kick it off by looking at news from Europe. On Monday, Greece’s New Democracy party, which supports the European Union’s austerity measures, came out on top in public opinion polls published prior to the country’s June 17 general election.

Spain’s Bankia SA (NYSE:BKT) shares dropped on Monday after investors reacted to news that the lender asked for a EUR 19 billion (about $24 billion) government rescue. On Friday, the company’s shares had been halted.

Back in the U.S., there’s plenty of economic numbers to go around with the week ending on nonfarm payrolls and unemployment numbers.

Beginning on Tuesday through Thursday, technology stock watchers will have their ears on the D10 All Things Digital conference. The biggest names in the industry will be there and speakers will include Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook, Oracle Corp.’s (NASDAQ:ORCL) founder and CEO Larry Ellison, LinkedIn Corp.’s (NYSE:LNKD) CEO Jeff Weiner, Zynga Inc.’s (NASDAQ:ZNGA) founder and CEO Mark Pincus and Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIS) and Pixar Animation Studios president Ed Catmull.

Federal Reserve bank presidents have a busy midweek and earnings will also keep market watchers busy.

Tuesday: S&P Case-Shiller home-prices report, Consumer Confidence and Dallas Fed Manufacturing Survey.

Wednesday: Pending Home Sales.

Thursday: ADP Jobs, Weekly jobless Claims, GDP, Chicago PMI and Same-Store sales.

Friday: Nonfarm Payrolls and unemployment, Consumer Spending, ISM Manufacturing PMI and Construction Spending.

Fed Speak

Wednesday: Speeches from Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren, Dallas Fed President Richard Fisher and New York Fed President William Dudley.

Thursday: Cleveland Fed President Sandra Pianalto.

Earnings

Tuesday: DryShips (NASDAQ:DRYS) and Neiman Marcus.

Wednesday: Lions Gate (NYSE:LGF) and TiVo (NASDAQ:TIVO).

Thursday: J Crew, Ciena Corporation (NASDAQ:CIEN), Omnivision Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:OVTI) and Splunk (SPLK).
