In an out-of-court resolution of Sharp’s TFT Displays & Accessories division in North America and Europe, the firm will pay $198.5 million to Dell (NASDAQ:DELL) and two other companies as part of the settlement.
Youku.com (NYSE:YOKU) has reached a deal with Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) for video-on-demand rights in China to NBCUniversal’s extensive library of titles. The firm has previously okayed arrangements with several other major studios to line up content for their 300 million online viewers.

Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM) is said to be ready to pay more than $70 million for GoInstant, which develops tech that enables two or more people to use a common web browser. GoInstant’s solutions could in theory enhance the collaboration features of Salesforce’s sales-automation software, among those of other products. It wasn’t long ago that Salesforce agreed to buy Buddy Media for $689 million.
Research In Motion Limited’s (NASDAQ:RIMM) decision to postpone the intro of its new Blackberry 10 operating system, plus upbeat comments by its CEO followed by the large quarterly loss posted by the company in June, might expose the smartphone maker to lawsuits by shareholders, according to securities law experts to The New York Times on Sunday. For its part, RIM said it did not mislead investors. A new light on all this could come from RIM’s annual shareholder meeting that takes place Tuesday.
