Starbucks Brews Some Disney Magic
Starbucks (NASDAQ:SBUX) will place coffee shops at Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS) theme parks and resorts after the two announced a partnership on Monday. The first of six Starbucks cafes will open at the Disney California Adventure in June. Additional stores have been planned for Disneyland Park and Walt Disney World Resort, including locations at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
In June 2009, Starbucks had first opened a store at Disneyland Paris.
The California store, located on the Buena Vista Street section of the park that represents Los Angeles in the 1920s, will feature baristas in attire inspired from the period. In addition to regular coffee and espresso beverages as well as Starbucks pastries, signature Disney-inspired sandwiches and other items will also be offered.
“This is something our customers and partners have asked for through MyStarbucksIdea.com since the site launched more than four years ago, so we are pleased to bring this idea to life,” Starbucks president for global development Arthur Rubinfeld said in a statement.
In February, Starbucks entered into a partnership with Alaska Air Group (NYSE:ALK) to offer passengers free coffee on-board, and has similar prior partnerships with United Continental (NYSE:UAL) and All Nippon Airways.
