Sprint to Carry BB10 and 4 Telecom Titans Attracting Interest

AT&T, Inc. (NYSE:T):  AT&T, Inc. has announced the availability of AT&T Mobile Security, a new solution for businesses and organizations that strengthens AT&T’s portfolio for mobile security and mobile enterprise management.  This portfolio will include device-level security, application protection, mobile device management capabilities, network-based security controls, and encrypted transport. It is available across carriers and for multiple mobile operating systems.

Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S): Chief Executive Officer Heins said Spring Nextel Corp.’s testing of BB10 will begin next month.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ):  Traveling overseas can be a big problem for United States  iPhone owners, as most of the iPhones sold in the US are locked to Sprint, AT&T or Verizon. While those carriers do have data roaming plans, the charges can quickly add up. That is why everyone got so excited when it was revealed that the Verizon iPhone 5′s GSM was not locked to the carrier.

Vodafone Group PLC.(NASDAQ:VOD):  Vodafone has been accused of using a legal loop-hole to avoid giving staff a 30-day redundancy consultation period by telecoms union Prospect. Rather than giving a consultation period, the group claims the operator has offered staff ‘compromise agreements’ which typically mean a pay-off with instant contract termination for employees, who then sign away any right to pursue a claim against their former employer.

Level 3 Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:LVLT):  Level 3 Communications Inc.  announced that their fully owned subsidiary, Level 3 Financing, Inc., is currently seeking to refinance their existing Tranche B II Term Loan and Tranche B III Term Loan under their existing senior credit facility that was initially borrowed with a new senior secured term loan in late 2011 . In connection with refinancing, the company stated, “We are confirming the relevant information contained in the Business Outlook section of the Second Quarter 2012 earnings release dated July 25, 2012.”
