AT&T, Inc. (NYSE:T) announced that wireline employees represented by the Communications Workers of America have voted to ratify three-year contracts for the AT&T Midwest region and AT&T Corp. The tentative agreements were agreed upon on July 21. The Midwest agreement covers over 13,000 wireline employees in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The AT&T Corp and about 5,700 wireline employees located countrywide. On August 7, AT&T Southeast reached a tentative agreement with the CWA in wireline contract negotiations in the Southeast region, as well as tentative agreements on two smaller Southeast regional agreements covering AT&T Billing Southeast and Southeast Utility Operations. The shares traded down $0.09 (0.24%) recently at $37.15.

Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S): Dish Network (NASDAQ:DISH) Chairman Charlie Ergen claims that he needs to find a partner to enter the mobile broadband market, and probably will not build a network from the bottom up due to delays from U.S. regulators, according to the Denver Business Journal and the Denver Post, reports Reuters. The shares traded up $0.05 (0.87%) recently at $5.20.
Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ): Verizon Wireless announced that it is expanding its 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) data network to 34 new markets and it will expand in 38 other markets this week, bringing the total coverage area for the company up to 75 percent of the population in the United States. The new markets which launched on Aug. 16 include cities stretching from California to Massachusetts, and cities like Santa Barbara, Calif., saw their 4G coverage expanded. Network coverage was also expanded in other major cities like New York, Salt Lake City, Boston, Cincinnati and Chicago. The shares traded down $0.01 (0.02%) recently at $44.11.
Vodafone Group PLC (NASDAQ:VOD): On the occasion of Eid, Vodafone’s one-month free post-paid offer will be extended for existing and new customers until August 25. All new and existing Vodafone post-paid customers will now be able to enjoy one post-paid monthly plan for free. Also, all customers will receive the discount automatically.
Clearwire Corporation (NASDAQ:CLWR): Earlier in the week, Sprint announced the closure of an offering for $1.5 billion in fresh debt. Sprint stated that it plans to use the net proceeds from the offering for general corporate purposes, which could include redemptions or service requirements of outstanding debt, network expansion, and modernization and potential funding of Clearwire. It also announced the close of the debt offering the same day, and the company claimed it would redeem $1.5 billion in 2013 and 2015 debt maturities. The shares traded up $0.08 (4.6%) recently at $1.82.
