Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE:S) is still offering comprehensive range of wireless and wireline communications services via the announcement of its most recent Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, 4G LTE tablet. The tablet is to be available during the second week of November at a competitive price reaching $549.99 (excluding taxes and surcharges). The tablet should continue to be available in Sprint Nextel retail stores and online at www.sprint.com.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) stated today that 97.2 percent of the cell sites in the areas that were affected by Hurricane Sandy are currently in working order.

Vodafone Group plc (NASDAQ:VOD): The E.U. plans to release an additional 120 MHz of spectrum for 2014 to be used in 4G technology, Reuters reports, citing an announcement by the European Commission.

Level 3 Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:LVLT), a facilities-based provider of integrated communications services, has announced that Ballerina Laboratories, a healthcare and hygiene products company, chose Level 3’s data center and security solutions as a means to improve its performance, security, and availability of its IT infrastructure. Ballerina, which is based in Santiago, Chile, needed a service provider enabling  accelerated performance for its operations as a means to meet the company’s demand for products in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

Clearwire Corporation (NASDAQ:CLWR): Mount Kellett Capital Management, which is an investment firm that is run by former Goldman Sachs executives, attempted to influence US WiMAX-turned-Long Term Evolution (LTE) provider Clearwire to strengthen its position while facing a possible takeover by Sprint Nextel, which is its largest shareholder. In an open letter to Clearwire’s board, Mount Kellett stated that it thinks that the company’s stock is ‘substantially undervalued’ but that Clearwire could see benefits from increasing US demand for high speed wireless broadband, especially considering its large holdings of wireless spectrum
