Shell (NYSE:RDSA) extends its 220p offer for Cove Energy PLC yet again to July 25. Its rival in the fray is Thai energy company PTT Exploration & Production PCL, who similarly extended its offer of 240p on Monday to July 13. Cove’s main attraction is its 8.5 percent stake in a mammoth gas find off the coast of Mozambique.

JPMorgan’s (NYSE:JPM) may be in trouble with regulators again after market intermediaries reportedly said the bank pressed them to push its own mutual funds over competing products that were performing better and were cheaper; according to reports, the SEC, the FINRA, the Manhattan District Attorney are some of the authorities which have started inquiries.
J&J’s (NYSE:JNJ) Pinnacle metal-on-metal, artificial hip system is reportedly facing 1,600 lawsuits in U.S. courts as patients report problems such as pain, swelling, limited mobility and dislocation. Plaintiff attorneys say J&J could be paying almost $5 billion to cover revision surgeries. A severe blow to the company, considering it paid about $3 billion for problems with the ASR artificial hips just two years ago.
A recurrent rumor that Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) may buy out Microsoft’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) stake in MSNBC.com is again doing the rounds; if the deal succeeds, reports say that MSNBC.com may be rebranded as NBCNews.com.
