Ending the year at a 52 week low is some really bad news for shareholders. Hopefully the new year will bring higher times for these companies.
Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:SHLD): Investors in Sears are following the company’s example of not investing in their stores. Since Sears and Kmart are not where America shops, Sears is losing to competitors such as JC Penny (NYSE:JCP), Target (NYSE:TGT), and Macy’s (NYSE:M). Sears shares are down another 3.4% to a new 52 week low at $31.78.
Shutterfly, Inc. (NASDAQ:SFLY): Shutterfly warns fourth quarters results may disappoint. Barclays was not surprised and thinks SFLY has at least 20 percent revenue growth for this quarter and next year. “The valuation and recent stock performance have more than factored in today’s downward revision,” said Barclays. Shares closed 2011 at $22.76.
Hanesbrands Inc. (NYSE:HBI): Higher cotton prices are bad news for undies. Shares closed down 0.68% to a new 52 week low at $21.86.
Braskem S.A. (NYSE:BAK): BAK could find its shares scrapping the bottom of the barrel for a while, but managed to close up 1.37% to $14.10.
