Here’s Samsung’s New WEAPON to Fight Off Apple

Samsung is ready to test its best against Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone after starting the U.S. rollout of its Galaxy S III flagship phone through T-Mobile. Verizon (NYSE:VZ), AT&T (NYSE:T), and Sprint (NYSE:S) are expected to get the device in the coming weeks. T-Mobile will offer the smartphone for $279.99 with a two-year commitment, while the other three wireless providers are expected to make it available for $199.99 on a two-year contract.

Samsung is focusing on the Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android-powered Galaxy III to drive its big charge against Apple in the latter’s home market, kicking off major marketing efforts. T-Mobile also has a stake in the rivalry, sine it is the only major provider in the U.S. to not carry the iPhone. Apple and Samsung have dominated the world smartphone market lately, but hold a bitter rivalry. The two have been fighting patent battles against each other in several countries, and Apple is even said to be considering seeking a restraining order against sales of the Galaxy S III in the country.

Sprint is reportedly already facing inflated orders for the new Samsung device, according to a statement on the company’s website. “Due to overwhelming demand and limited supply for Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S III, we are running a little behind on deliveries,” the statement read.

The next iPhone is expected by several analysts, including Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster, to debut in October.
