RARE Video: Here’s How Foxconn Makes Your iPad

Marketplace Shanghai Bureau Chief Rob Schmitz is only the second reporter ever to gain access to visit the factory floor at Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) Chinese producer Foxconn. Below are highlights from his tour of the assembly line and the Foxconn facilities.

Here are some interesting numbers behind the costs of building the iPad at Foxconn:

  • $14 a day per worker;
  • Every day hundreds of people line up to apply for work building our iPads;
  • Most of the work is done by humans, but machines are increasingly becoming part of the process;
  • Unlike many factories in China, Foxconn pays workers on time and offers significant amenities.

Investors should be happy Foxconn and Apple are making efforts to address the ongoing labor scandal. In time, this too shall pass.

Now that you’ve seen the sausage get made, Will the iPad 3 Be the Next Catalyst for Apple’s Stock?
