Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) stated that it has improved performance and graphics in the upcoming version of its Core chip line, while it also slashed power consumption by about 41 percent. According to industry analysts, this could help laptop manufacturers build and sell thinner and smaller computers with significantly longer battery life, which may boost the slowing PC industry. The shares traded up $0.55 (2.23%) recently at $24.93.

Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ:RMBS): Cryptography Research, Inc. (NYSE:CRI), which is a division of Rambus, used today to announce that it has been chosen by the Secure Content Storage Association (SCSA) to provide security leadership and expertise regarding the SCSA efforts. The SCSA is made of several companies in the entertainment and storage space founded by SanDisk (NASDAQ: SNDK), Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Bros., and WD, a Western Digital (NASDAQ: WDC) company, to provide consumers with innovative ways to build digital home libraries. The SCSA’s Project Phenix (working title) initiative should provide consumers with an easier and faster way to organize, store, and move their high definition digital movies and TV shows across multiple devices. Rackspace Hosting, Inc. (NYSE:RAX) has achieved certification to the ISO 14001:2004 environmental management standard. The certification is based on an external validation of the company’s environmental performance regarding the design, implementation, and support of hosting solutions in its UK data centre and office operations. ISO 14001 certification among cloud data centre providers should still be comparatively rare and Rackspace is still environmentally proactive in improving its operations. Adherence to the voluntary 14000 or 14001 standards indicates Rackspace’s efforts to both improve and formally systematise the company’s environmental management efforts. The shares traded up $1.61 (2.60%) recently at $63.61.
SanDisk Corp. (NASDAQ:SNDK), which develops NAND flash memory chips, soars following solid state drive maker OCZ Technology’s (NASDAQ:OCZ) reduction of its Q2 revenue guidance last night due to a shortage of NAND flash memory components. In a note to investors, Pacific Crest analyst Monika Garg claimed that SanDisk would benefit from this shortage, as it would have the ability to gain higher prices for its NAND flash memory products. Also, the company will have the ability to raise its share of the solid state drive market, as OCZ and other solid state drive markets are hampered by NAND shortages, Garg maintained. In mid-morning trading, SanDisk jumped $3, or 7.39%, to $43.60. The shares traded up $3.34 (8.23%) recently at $43.94.
