Broadcom Corp. (NASDAQ:BRCM) shows a small year-over-year rise of only 1.4 percent, and has underperformed the broader S&P 500 Index (SPX) on a relative- strength basis during the past 40 sessions, causing the stock to be lifted to “outperform” from “market perform.” This morning the stock also had its price target increased to $41 from $36 at Bernstein. However, it must be mentioned that although short interest on the equity has fallen by about 6 percent over the past month, the shorted shares now make up less than 2 percent of the stock’s available float. From a contrarian perspective, this may indicate that the security will probably see no benefit from any short-covering activity during the near-term.
QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM): AMD’s shares increased by almost 10 percent following rumors that chip-maker, Qualcomm, may be considering purchasing AMD. The rumors were based off of an announcement which AMD made on Tuesday. The company confirmed to ChannelBiz that John Byrne was appointed as Chief Sales Officer, and suddenly, positive posts regarding AMD began to surface.
ARM Holdings plc (NASDAQ:ARMH) has stated that it continues to work with all the major EDA companies following EE Times‘ question concerning claimed improvements in performance and power consumption trade-offs claimed for the design of system-chips (SoCs) based on Cortex A-series processor cores made using design tools from Cadence Design Systems Inc.
