Broadcom Corp. (NASDAQ:BRCM) shows a small year-over-year rise of only 1.4 percent, and has underperformed the broader S&P 500 Index (SPX) on a relative- strength basis during the past 40 sessions, causing the stock to be lifted to “outperform” from “market perform.” This morning the stock also had its price target increased to $41 from $36 at Bernstein. However, it must be mentioned that although short interest on the equity has fallen by about 6 percent over the past month, the shorted shares now make up less than 2 percent of the stock’s available float. From a contrarian perspective, this may indicate that the security will probably see no benefit from any short-covering activity during the near-term.
QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM): AMD’s shares increased by almost 10 percent following rumors that chip-maker, Qualcomm, may be considering purchasing AMD. The rumors were based off of an announcement which AMD made on Tuesday.
