Physicians Formula ACQUIRED by Swander Pace and 3 Morning Hot Stocks Demanding Attention Mid-Week

Swander Pace Capital, a leading private equity firm dedicated to investing in middle-market consumer products companies in North America, has agreed to acquire skin care firm Physicians Formula Holdings (NASDAQ:FACE) in a $65 million deal that pays $4.25 in cash for each share, a premium of 15 percent on Physician’s Tuesday closing of $3.68. Shares of FACE are up over 15 percent today.

Credit, debit and check processor Global Payments (NYSE:GPN) is to acquire Accelerated Payment Technologies (AMEX:APT) for $413M from Great Hill Partners. Global Payments already processes most of APT’s transactions, which originate from small and medium-sized merchants.

Q2 earnings for Pan American Silver (NASDAQ:PAAS) missed estimates hugely and were down 61 percent following a 23 percent decline in silver prices. However, silver output was up significantly by 14 percent y-on-y and 16 percent q-on-q, aided mainly by production from the recently acquired Dolores mine in Mexico. Production at The La Colorada and Alamo Dorado mines was 1.1 million oz and 1.3 million oz. of silver respectively.
