New Disney/Hasbro Chatter, Casinos Await MD Vote: Consumer Business Wrap

New chatter originating with MTV Geek says that The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) is showing some serious interest in buying Hasbro (NYSE:HAS). If Disney does acquire the company, it would gain the rights to Transformers, G.I. Joe and other popular franchises, plus the toy and table top game licenses for Star Wars characters.

Election Day is finally (!) here, and it’s now just a matter of a few hours for Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ:PENN) and MGM Resorts International (NYSE:MGM) to find out if a new casino will be approved for Prince George’s County, Maryland. Penn’s casino in that area could take a hit if Question 7 passes, which would permit MGM Resorts to build the new complex there.

Merger discussions between American Airlines and US Airways (NYSE:LCC) could get more serious in November, according to sources to the Dallas Morning News, which indicate that US Airways might be nearing a formal offer soon with the benefits of an agreement for both carriers slowly starting to become more clear.
