Netflix CEO Signs Giving Pledge and 4 Media Titans Making Waves

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX)CEO Reed Hastings has promised half of his family’s wealth to charity via the Giving Pledge, which is a two-year-old initiative championed by Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates. Hastings and his wife, Patty Quillin, signed the Giving Pledge in September along with 11 other families, according to a press release on Tuesday. The pledge now covers 92 families. The shares traded down $0.89 (1.56%) recently at $56.13.

Coinstar, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSTR) celebrated the opening of its new customer service center in Pasco, Washington at 11:30 a.m. today. Due to its business growth, Coinstar moved to a larger facility at 5615 Dunbarton Ave. in Pasco from its smaller facility at Kennewick. There will be a call center to deal with question regarding company’s Redbox DVD and video game rentals, Coinstar coin-counting, and other ventures. Its employees are prepared to help customers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Ireland. The shares traded down $0.49 (0.95%) recently at $51.03.

Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE:TWC) will sell its stake in Clearwire Corp. (NASDAQ:CLWR), according to an SEC filing, reports Reuters. A Clearwire spokesman stated that Time Warner’s 46 million shares represent a 7.8 percent economic interest and more than 3 percent of Clearwire’s voting shares. The shares traded up $0.40 (0.43%) recently at $92.50.

Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA): NBC’s (NASDAQ:CMCSA) Today show’s rating has fallen after deciding to get rid of veteran anchor Ann Curry, and it has now been beaten by ABC’s (NYSE:DIS) Good Morning America for the third week in row, reports The New York Post. The shares traded down $0.27 (0.77%) recently at $34.79.

News Corp. (NASDAQ:NWSA): Over 600 titles from News Corp’s Twentieth Century Fox will soon be available to be rented or purchased via Google’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Google Play and YouTube, Google has announced. The shares traded down $0.13 (0.52%) recently at $24.47.
