Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG): For statutory damages related to its patent infringement suit against Google, Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL) has agreed to a $0 settlement, but it is also filing a partial regarding the case. Google was declared innocent, by a jury, of all 8 of Oracle’s patent infringement claims, and a judge denied Oracle a request to nullify the decision of the jury. Oracle had sought billions in damages from Google because of Androids use of Java programming interfaces.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT): As an attempt to help the settlement of their patent issues, Motorola Mobility (NASDAQ:GOOG) proposes that Microsoft pay it $0.50 per copy of Windows containing Motorola’s H.264 video encoding tech, and Motorola will pay $0.33 to Microsoft for each smartphone supporting Microsoft’s ActiveSync software. Microsoft has disregarded the offer and suggested that Motorola be obligated to license patents under FRAND terms. ITC injunctions (I, II) are possibly pending.
Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC): Today, AtHoc, Inc., a leader in network-centric emergency mass notification systems, has announced that an oversubscribed $5.6M investment round led by Intel Capital, Intel Corp.’s global investment organization, has been successfully completed. The funding will assist in accelerating the company’s competitive initiatives for product and market expansion. The shares traded down $0.53 (1.92%) recently at $27.11.
