Microsoft: We’ll Stick to Our Bread and Butter…Software!

Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad is a market too big for even Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) to ignore. According to Business Insider, which cites people in the know, Microsoft is likely to launch its Office suite of products for the iPad at the company’s SharePoint Conference in Las Vegas commencing November 12. The product will be on sale during the holiday season and open for volume licensing in 2013.

Microsoft probably had to make a difficult call here: sell Office for iPad — which is a huge Windows competitor — and thereby strengthen its product appeal further, or, miss out on a huge market and the opportunity to make good money. Obviously, Microsoft wants the cash. Especially since Microsoft has not been able to make a huge impact on the tablet market yet.
