It turns out the rumors about Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) are true. On Monday, the company launched a coupon that allows customers to purchase its 4 gigabyte Xbox 360 console bundle for $99 when they also sign up for a 2-year Xbox Live Gold subscription at $14.99 per month.

In total, the console and 2-year subscription will cost $459 compared with $420 for the same package if bought outright. Microsoft also maintains the right to terminate the subscription at anytime. However, if a customer opts out of the contract before its expiration, they will be forced to pay a termination fee. The contract will be prorated with users canceling earlier in the life of the contract paying a heavier penalty than those canceling later on.
