Vodafone Group plc (NASDAQ:VOD): Ofcom, which is the U.K.’s telecoms regulator, has intentions to free up the 700Mhz frequency band for mobile use, bringing Great Britain into line with the Americas along with the majority of Asia, reports Financial Times.
MetroPCS Communications, Inc. (NYSE:PCS) is planned to be acquired by T-Mobile, and this will allow the T-Mobile to merge MetroPCS’ existing LTE network into its own planned LTE network and refarm MetroPCS’ 1900 MHz CDMA spectrum for HSPA+ services. The combined company will likely have enough spectrum to offer 20×20 MHz LTE in a number of major markets.
Clearwire Corporation (NASDAQ:CLWR): T-Mobile USA has labeled former Clearwire executive Mike Sievert as its new CMO, and they have made him responsible for the carrier’s brand during its move toward merger with MetroPCS (NYSE:PCS) along with its launch of LTE next year.
