Mergers and Acquisitions Update: Allscripts Gets Offers, Northern Oil & Gas Hears Chatter

UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) will purchase a 90 interest in Brazil’s biggest health care company, Amil Participaçőes, for about $4.9 billion in a cash transaction. Amil supplies more than 5 million people with hospital and clinical services, health and dental benefits, and advanced care management resources. The acquisition should add slightly to the buyer’s 2013 earnings per share.

Allscripts – Mysis Healthcare Solutions (NASDAQ:MDRX), which is set to be taken private, is said to have received first-round offers from The Blackstone Group (NYSE:BX) and The Carlyle Group (NYSE:CG) among others, say sources. The firm anticipates second-round offers within 3 to 4 weeks.

Shares of Northern Oil & Gas (AMEX:NOG) are up modestly on Monday due to takeover rumors that abound. The firm has strong financial prospects plus a recent management shakeup, but shares have traded at a notable discount to peers since the shorts attacked it in 2011. However, certain analysts believe that a sale could be the ultimate ending.
