Look Who’s Joining the iPhone 5 Action

The iPhone 5 is arriving on several local wireless networks on Friday, with some of the providers offering discounts to attract new users to the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) smartphone. Regional carriers Cellcom, nTelos (NASDAQ:NTLS), Appalachian Wireless, C Spire (NASDAQ:SPIR) and GCI (NASDAQ:GNCMA) are all getting the device, according to PC Mag.

“We’ve seen the anticipation for iPhone 5 grow and are excited to soon offer our customers this fantastic phone on our network,” Cellcom chief executive Pat Riordan said in a statement.

Prepaid provider Cricket Communications (NASDAQ:LEAP), which does not offer a contract, will sell the phone starting at $499.99 and up. The iPhone 5 started selling on the national networks of AT&T (NYSE:T), Verizon (NYSE:VZ), and Sprint (NYSE:S) on September 21.

The carriers are also offering the iPhone 4S for $49.99 and the iPhone 4 for free with a two-year contract. nTelos and Cellcom received the Apple phone in April, while C Spire started selling it in November last year.
