On Thursday, Lexmark International (NYSE:LXK) purchased Acuo Technologies for a cash price of about $45 million. The latter is a recognized leader in high performance software and services for clinical content management, data migration and vendor neutral archives, and will become a part of Perceptive Software, a Lexmark business.
3D Systems Corp. (NYSE:DDD) buys Geomagic, a top worldwide supplier of 3D authoring solutions that include design, sculpt and scan software tools used to create 3D content and to inspect products throughout the entire design and manufacturing process. This transaction should close during the first quarter, but terms were not disclosed.

Trimble Navigation Limited (NASDAQ:TRMB) said Wednesday that it bought the privately-held ALK Technologies of Princeton, New Jersey in a transaction for which the financials were not reported. The firm is a worldwide mover in routing, mapping, mileage and navigation technologies. The addition of ALK should extend and complement Trimble’s Transportation and Logistics product portfolio.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) purchases a small home-entertainment tech startup to reinforce its Xbox unit, say inside sources. Blake Krikorian, late of Apple’s board, created id8 Group R2 Studios in May of 2011 and he will be joining Microsoft with a small team.
