Lenovo Debuts Intel’s Thunderbolt

Lenovo announces the ThinkPad Edge S430, the first Windows laptop with Intel’s (NASDAQ:INTC) Thunderbolt and the Edge E430 and E530. Lenovo didn’t think the new ThinkPad ultrabook or the dual processor/dual operating system ThinkPad Hybrid X1 was enough so they put out an array of ThinkPad Edge laptops.

The ThinkPad Edge S430 is one of the first Windows (NASDAQ:MSFT) laptops to have Intel’s third generation Core processors and Intel’s Thunderbolt I/O technology. No specific details have been given yet, but it will also be available with Nvidia Optimus graphics and up to 1TB of storage.

The S430 is slightly thicker than the ThinkPad ultrabook, but still has an optical drive. It looks a lot like the IdeaPad U260 with a dark brown aluminum lid and a similar book hinge design. It comes with an antiglare display option. The S430 won’t be available until June and will start at $749.

E430 and 15-inch E530 laptops are much bigger and will be available with Intel’s third generation Core processors as well as AMD (NYSE:AMD) Fusion APUs. The cases have also been updated with fresh colors, including black, red, and blue. The E520 and E430 will be available before the S430 in April, and will start at $549. Lastly is the Lenovo B Series laptops are the cheapest in the series starting at $399. No specific details have been released on these.
