Vodafone (NASDAQ:VOD) CEO Vittorio Colao, speaking at a conference in Barcelona, says he could not rule out an exit from the United States. The Vodafone board regularly reviews the company’s portfolio including the 45% stake held in Verizon Wireless, he said. In 2011 Vodafone sold its 44% stake in the French SFR business to its majority partner Vivendi £6.8 billion, as a part of its programme to sell assets it did not control and return cash to shareholders.
In a management reshuffle at Leap Wireless (NASDAQ:LEAP), CFO Jerry Elliott becomes COO while Perley McBride takes over finance. According to Leap, the changes were made to ”accelerate operational improvements and better enable management to direct the company’s long-term strategy in a time of industry transition.”

According to a report in Reuters, James Murdoch, Rupert Murdoch’s younger son, has had a role in negotiations for the acquisition by News Corp (NASDAQ:NWS) of a minority stake in cable channel YES which broadcasts New York Yankees games. Talks are reportedly in an advanced stage with most of the holding transferring from Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) and Providence Equity Partners. The YES Channel broadcasts to about 15 million homes and has an indicated value of about $3 billion.
Hertz (NYSE:HTZ) is likely to secure a long-awaited regulatory approval of its $2.6 billion deal to acquire Dollar Thrifty (NYSE:DTG). As a condition for the approval, Hertz must exit 15 additional airport outlets, including LaGuardia in New York City. A draft statement of the approval is reportedly being circulated among the commissioners of the US FTC.
