Laura Prepon Will Appear in ‘Most’ of Orange Is the New Black’s Second Season
With the second season of the Netflix original series House of Cards set to premiere over Valentine’s Day weekend, fans of the streaming service’s other hugely popular and critically acclaimed series, Orange is the New Black, are wondering when they will be able to binge on that show’s second season. For now, the release date is uncertain, with some reports saying that it will come out sometime this spring.
One thing fans of the dramedy set in a women’s prison can take solace in for the time being is writer Jenji Kohan’s confirmation that actress Laura Prepon will be appearing in “most” of the show’s second season after various reports came out that Prepon, who had only signed a one-year contract, would only be appearing in one episode to wrap up her character Alex Vause’s storyline.
“Yes, yes, she is coming back,” Kohan told Us Magazine on the former That 70′s Show actress at the Writers Guild Awards on Saturday. “Not the whole season, but … you’ll see her for most of it.”
Kohan has said in the past that both herself and the show’s viewers are becoming more interested in the show’s many characters and that future seasons will not focus so heavily on the Piper/Alex/Larry love triangle that was the central conflict driving much of season one. “It’s becoming much more of an ensemble,” Kohan said to TV Guide in the fall. “As much as I love Piper and Taylor and her journey, I think people are interested in everybody’s journey.”
