International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) signs a license agreement with GigOptix (GIG) to leverage it’s silicon germanium millimeterwave transceiver tech with GigOptix’s expanding E-band wireless solutions portfolio, which includes its recently released advanced E-band power amplifier. It’s now thought that Internet traffic from mobile devices will outweigh traffic from wired devices by 2016.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC): Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) reports that three of the world’s market-leading providers of wireless and wireline communications – Verizon (NYSE:VZ), Vodafone (NASDAQ:VOD) and Mobile TeleSystems OJSC – have agreed to new tech arrangements for the provision and delivery of industry standard servers. Under the three-year contracts, HP will supply HP ProLiant servers based on the newest Intel processors, enabling Verizon, Vodafone and MTS to offer new services to their subscribers, who number more than 490 million.
