JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM): Closing price $52.77
Prior to the United Kingdom’s finance regulator penalizing him for disclosing inside information, Ian Hannam, formerly one of JPMorgan’s top merger advisers, said the bank cleared him in an internal inquiry, saying, “JPMorgan believed that I had not done market abuse” in a London court Wednesday, where he is fighting a $687,000 fine. A proposed civil market-abuse fine against Hannam by the Financial Conduct Authority is based on two email messages. Hannam said the notes were in the best interest of his client, Heritage Oil, and is challenging the sanction at a court hearing at the Upper Tribunal in London that began Tuesday.
