JP Morgan Selects Viacom as Top 2012 Stock Pick, Roth Capital Long on Shutterfly

The U.S. financial markets stumbled at the open due to a post-earnings release sell-off at J.P. Morgan. Meanwhile, analysts reviewed a new batch of companies and issued their latest insights and ratings to investors and shareholders. Here’s what they had to say today:

Viacom (NYSE:VIA): JP Morgan still has Viacom as a top pick for 2012.  The firm cited a large stock buyback, company valuation and earnings growth as it kept its Overweight.

Cinemark Holdings Inc. (NYSE:CNK): Caris says Cinemark could top estimates.  Caris believes consensus estimates for Cinemark are ingnoring company gains in Latin America. and those gains could push the company over consensus. The firm maintains an Above Average.

Williams-Sonoma Inc. (NYSE:WSM): Wells Fargo not concerned by Williams-Sonoma guidance reduction.  The company reduced fourth quarter guidance after holiday sales were lower than expected. Wells Fargo is long on the company and view the reduction as a speed bump. The firm maintains an Outperform.

Select Comfort Corporation (NASDAQ:SCSS): Stifel Nicolaus raises target on Select Comfort.  The firm believes the specialty mattress provider will continue to grow. The firm maintains a Buy and raised target from $23 to $26.

Shutterfly, Inc. (NASDAQ:SFLY): Roth Capital still long on Shutterfly, despite departure of the chief financial officer (CFO). The firms expect the CFO resignation will convince many investors the company has stronger competition. But Roth Capital like long-term outlook and maintains a Buy.
